David Jacobs, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery including the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, macular hole, dislocated lens, and complex posterior segment disease.
Dr. Jacobs is dedicated to saving vision. He compassionately provides the most effective retina care available for each patient. Dr. Jacobs received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine as a recipient of the Carolina Medical Scholarship. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the Wake Forest University Eye Center followed by his vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
After completing his training, Dr. Jacobs established the first vitreoretinal surgical service in northwestern North Dakota where he researched retinal detachment repair outcomes and published his findings in the Journal of VitreoRetinal Diseases. He has provided humanitarian retina surgery in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador with Latter-day Saint Charities. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He has presented at the Vit-Buckle Society and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys after-school activities with his family, running, rock wall climbing, piano, and helping out at church.
